Sikkens Rubbol AZ Plus is a high-build, solvent-borne opaque coating that delivers a durable, high-gloss, paint-like finish. Preparation

Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dust, algae, fungi or moss.

Resinous deposits should be removed with a scraper.
Degrease the surface with a lint free cloth and suitable solvent, allow to evaporate fully before applying Sikkens.
For previously painted or worn wood use a fine sandpaper of 240 grit work in the direction of to abrade the surface the grain remove any loose paint.
Dust down entire surface.
Fill any cracks, holes or chips, always use a filler designed for timber.

Application

Before applying stir the product thoroughly and test a small area to ensure colour and adhesion. Colours can vary dependant on surface to be treated.

Do not apply when there is the risk of rain or when temperatures are below 5°C or above 30°C.
Protect from frost and rain until dry.
Always ensure product is fully mixed before and during application to ensure consistency in colour and sheen.
Do not thin adding thinner will reduce opacity, a third coat may be required.
For best results use a good quality, long-haired, soft bristle brush.
The product should be applied in a full flowing coat, laying off in the direction of the grain, using the minimum number of brushstrokes necessary to produce an acceptable finish.
Avoid over brushing.
Apply 2 coats.
Allow 18 hours drying time between coats.
Second coat must be applied within 48 hours to provide full protection, if not applied within 48 hours light sanding with a medium grade abrasive, to provide a surface “key” will be required, ensure all dust is removed.
On new wood were possible the first coat should be applied all round prior to fixing.
Pay special attention to areas of exposed grain, tops and bottoms of doors and undersides of cills.
